CAREERS
The careers curriculum for Investigators is based on the Talentino's programme and provides careers encounters, work experiences and enterprise curriculum
The curriculum for Investigators + and Researchers is based on the CDI Primary framework, providing meaningful and appropriate exposure to the world of work and job roles, workplaces and personal skills.
Where appropriate the curriculum aligns with and supports Gatsby benchmarks.
From CDI handbook “Career-related learning in primary schools is about broadening pupils’ horizons, challenging stereotypes and helping them develop the skills and sense of self that will enable them to reach their full potential”. Pupils find out about who they are, who they can become and where they could possibly fit in the world.
Coherence
The Investigator curriculum encompasses Enterprise transitions, Practical skills for Enterprise and Careers experiences. The curriculum has been adapted to our Investigator leaners to ensure they have positive careers experiences.
The Investigator + and Researcher curriculum delivers learning through 6 strands, Explore Possibilities - Explore the full range of possibilities open to you and learn about recruitment processes and the culture of different workplaces, Manage Career- Manage your career actively, make the most of opportunities and learn from setbacks, Grow throughout life- by learning and reflecting on yourself, your background and your strengths, See the big picture- See the big picture by paying attention to how the economy, politics and society connect with your own life and career, Balance Life and Work- Balance your life as a worker and/or entrepreneur with your wellbeing, other interests and your involvement with your family and community, Create Opportunities- Create opportunities by being proactive and building relationships with others. The programme offers regular opportunities to consider real world experiences and how it relates to themselves.
Learning is broken down into manageable steps to support pupils' progression, learning and reinforcing of key concepts ‘sticky knowledge’ and acquisition of key vocabulary.
The curriculum has a clear starting point at D/E. The curriculum has been mapped to show starting points for Careers at Detective/ Explorer level, enabling all learners to access through adaptive teaching. The investigator curriculum provides foundations for the modules at Investigator +/ Researcher levels. Pupils at all stages of learning cycle back and revisit learning through unit plans and follow the curriculum overview.
